Term 2 Ends
Whilst we have done our very best to remain open this week while it has been necessary for a number of staff to isolate, please be advised that the Chair of Governors and I, with support from the Local Authority, have taken the difficult decision that Steeple Claydon School building will be closed on Friday 18th December and all learning on that day will be set remotely online.
This is for a number of reasons. There are a couple of other members of staff who are now absent due to illness or isolating as a precaution. While we can manage this tomorrow (Thursday) and Christmas parties will go ahead, there are also quite a few members of staff who work part time and are not in school on Fridays. With both of these things put together, I’m afraid there will not be enough trained first aiders to open safely and not enough staff to supervise lunch times in particular.
We realise this will inconvenience many of you who are expected to go to work on Friday and have to arrange childcare. We are very sorry about this and have tried to avoid it but we must put the safety of our pupils and staff as the highest priority. All class teachers will put a number of activities (probably Christmas related) on SeeSaw for the children to engage with on that day.
If anyone’s children start to show symptoms of Covid and need testing at any point up until Sunday 20th December, please could you let me know directly by emailing email@example.com as if the test result comes back positive it will have implications for others who have been in contact with them at school over the last few days and they may need to isolate. If you haven’t heard from us by Christmas Eve, be assured that you will not be contacted by us and asked to isolate.
I would like to thank you all again for all the support and understanding everyone has shown throughout this difficult term and wish you a very happy and safe Christmas.
