HEADTEACHER’S NEWSLETTER

Our final week and a bit of the term that has been even more packed with exciting events than usual. The children who performed at the KS2 Carol Concert sang and read the narration really well. I’m told the Carol Service yesterday was a lovely combination of reprised songs from some of our other events and new creative items from each class representing the Christmas story. I was so sorry to have to miss it due to staffing and other difficulties in the office. In addition, the children have enjoyed their parties which included a visit from Santa, who even visited forest school in the snow, and our local MP, Greg Smith, who came on Friday to make a presentation to the winner of his Christmas Card Competition from our Year Four class! Huge apologies for the fact that the term was cut short by the school being closed today. The School Improvement Team at Buckinghamshire Council were given the impression by the water company late last night that our water supply would be severely limited at best today and so advised us to close.

Co-op Fundraising

A week or so ago, some members of staff from the Co-op came to present a cheque to our JLT as we were one of their chosen charities last year. Thanks to money contributed following your purchases, they raised £2232.19 towards the cost of the Artis performing arts sessions the children from years 2-6 have found so beneficial over the last couple of years. We have also been lucky enough to be chosen as a charity again this year. This time we are raising money to enhance outdoor learning across the school and are looking to buy resources to support Eco-Club and Forest School in particular. If you have a Co-op card, please consider going online and selecting our ’cause’ for donations to be made following your purchases. Thank you!

 

 

STAFF NEWS

Today we said goodbye and good luck to Mrs Locker who has worked with us as a teaching assistant predominantly with the Year 5 class for the last couple of years. We are really sorry to be losing in particular her positivity, immense talent in working with children, particularly those with additional needs, and general all round commitment and dedication to every area of school life. We wish her the very best in the future and thank her for everything!

In other news, at short notice, Laura Passenger, our deputy head and SENDCo, has been asked to help out another small local school in need of leadership support while their headteacher is off sick. She will therefore be acting head at the other school for three days a week during the Spring Term and will be working here with us only on Fridays each week. Any families of children with SEN needs should direct any queries to Mrs Richards in the first instance who will be taking on the majority of the SENDCo role for the term, as she did when Mrs Passenger was on maternity leave. Congratulations and good luck to Mrs Passenger for this great opportunity!
